About Us

Who is the ASAP?

ASAP – The Association of Serviced Apartment Providers is the not-for-profit trade body for the global serviced accommodation sector.

The Association represents a sector in pursuit of excellence in serviced accommodation, so travellers know they can stay with confidence

The unregulated Serviced Accommodation industry presents the customer with many unknowns and risks.

ASAP aims to minimise those risks for our Members’ clients by driving the sector towards being a safer industry that delivers its customer service and quality promises. As part of this, we have recognised there are three pillars we can promote and live by, complementing the business traveller’s aspirations to travel safely again. These are People, Planet and Principles.

People’ might represent hospitality guests and ASAP Members, appointments, developments in HR and training, partnerships with other associations, charitable efforts, celebrating colleagues, introducing the best suppliers, and much more. Hospitality is, after all, about a guest’s head on a pillow at the end of a day.

Planet’ – surely at the forefront of everyone’s minds – includes sustainability in all forms, but especially in travel management and hospitality, and the industry’s efforts to lead the green travel movement.

And ‘Principles’. As a trade body that established the first accreditation programme for the serviced accommodation sector, we have established ourselves as determined to lead good practice. Now our focus is on bringing accommodation buyers and standards-checked suppliers together, and making sure accreditation is recognised as the differentiator, so guests can know they can stay with confidence.

Our Membership

ASAP’s core membership consists of serviced apartment providers ranging from small independent companies to large global organisations, many of whom have achieved ISAAP Accreditation but all adhere with a stringent code of conduct.

What is the serviced apartment sector?

The serviced apartment sector offers fully furnished apartments which will always include kitchen facilities, as well as a living, sleeping area and a bath/shower room, and are available for short-term or long-term stays.  Amenities, housekeeping (normally minimum weekly) and a range of services for guests will be included and the cost per night will normally reduce, the longer the length of stay.

In this directory you can search either by serviced apartment or by aparthotel.

Serviced Apartment

Premier Suites Merrion Street DublinServiced apartments are fully furnished self-contained apartments which will include kitchen facilities, normally in a residential buildingKey services such as weekly housekeeping will be included, as well as bed linen, towels and laundry facilities but the level of additional services will be more limited compared to aparthotels.  Some have a minimum stay requirement (eg 3 or 7 nights) and the cost per night will normally reduce, the longer the length of stay.   Each operator will offer a choice of different apartment types which could range from studios to 1, 2, 3 or 4 bedroom apartments.

Serviced apartments will be managed either on-site or off-site; some may have an on-site reception operating for a limited time; others will offer check-in via a meet and greet service or make keys available via a key safe – please check details with the individual operator.

Aparthotel

Aparthotel

An aparthotel offers serviced apartments or suites within a purpose-built block, normally with a 24 hour reception as well as other typical hotel services and facilities (for example bar or restaurant, gym, communal space etc).  The individual apartments (sometimes called suites) are often more compact than those in a residential building – for example may offer a kitchenette rather than a full kitchen.  Usually there is no minimum stay requirement but preferential rates are normally offered for longer stays. Each operator will offer a choice of different apartment types which could range from studios to 1, 2, 3 or 4 bedroom apartments; some aparthotels will offer inter-connecting apartments.

Apartment kitchenWhat are the main benefits of staying in a serviced apartment or an aparthotel?

  • Kitchen facilities: Having a kitchen/kitchenette so you can cook a meal or prepare a snack whenever you choose is a major advantage and can save valuable time and money
  • Space: you’ll enjoy more space than in a conventional hotel room, particularly when you opt for an apartment with one or more bedrooms but even in a studio apartment you will find a separate area to cook/dine/relax as well as a separate sleeping area.
  • Privacy: most serviced apartments offer a weekly housekeeping service so you can enjoy more privacy
  • Flexibility: you have maximum flexibility to live to your own schedule and come and go as you please
  • Quality: you can trust a provider or agent holding ISAAP Accreditation and book with confidence knowing that they have been subject to a rigorous assessment by independent assessors.
  • Cost-effective: most operators offer preferential rates for longer stays eg from 7 or 28 nights; and in the UK for stays of 28+ nights the VAT reduces to 4%. Further cost savings can be made by dining in.

Businessman in apartmentWho are serviced apartments/aparthotels suitable for?

  • Business travellers When travelling away on business for anything from one night to one week, or several months or even longer, business travellers find having ‘their own place’ so they can live as independently as possible, and have the space to work as well as to cook, sleep and eat is a great advantage. And with the cost per night reducing the longer the stay, companies can make significant savings.
  • Leisure travellers Serviced apartments and aparthotels work well for leisure travellers.
  • Families find the extra living space especially useful for children to relax; and separate bedrooms mean children can keep to their normal routine.
  • Groups of friends on a weekend break similarly enjoy having a living/kitchen area to socialise together.
  • Solo travellers appreciate having the privacy of ‘their own space’ and especially the use of a kitchen so they have maximum flexibility to eat in when they choose.
